TRE Helps Haiti…

Dear TRE Parents~

The sixth grade classes and student council would like to sponsor a school-wide donation drive to help support those who are in need in Haiti. We are seeking to raise money that will transport food and other items such as water, beans, corn, and bleach. We will be working with an organization in Blissfield, MI called H-E-H which stands for Hope and Encouragement for Humanity. It is a nonprofit organization with 100% of the money raised going towards the transportation cost. H-E-H already has the food and supplies in a warehouse ready for shipment. For every $1.00 raised 10 people will be fed. We chose H-E-H because of a parent connection and that it has both the supplies ready to go and the ability to get it delivered directly to Haiti. We also like that H-E-H is non-profit organization located very close to our own community.

The students sponsoring the donation drive have planned a “friendly” competition to see which grade level can raise the most donations with the winning grade earning an extra recess in the spring. In the lobby we will have a bulletin board representing each grade level and the total dollar amount that is raised daily. Our goal as a whole school is to raise at least $1,000 towards the shipment of the food supplies to Haiti. We realize that not all families may be able to participate but any voluntary contributions large or small are most welcome.
We will be collecting money from January 25th – February 5th. Please make checks payable to TRE with
“Helping Haiti” in the memo section.

If there are any questions please contact Mrs. Tillman or Mr. Harris at 734-850-6500.

Thank you,
Mr. Harris, Principal
